SOURCING
Every Little Helps
It’s been a strange month, especially here in the UK where the Government seems to be pulling back on its climate commitments (encouraging further drilling in the North Sea) and the latest World Meteorological Organisation review indicating that we are warming quicker than predicted. According to its most recent report, we now stand a 50:50 chance of breaching the 1.5C mark within the next five years. Even if only temporarily, this will vastly increase the risk of huge climate related disasters.
We can’t pretend to have the answer to this but if each of us plays our part, surely we can help to mitigate some of the extremes. The textile industry is the second greatest user of resources and a single garment, a pair of jeans, can take up to 7600 litres of water to produce it. At NoBull Sourcing, we are ever mindful of the need to reduce the use of vital resources like water, to work with local communities and to produce in a sustainable way. This doesn’t just mean using organic cotton, it means looking at how the factories are powered and run, how the workers are rewarded, how the raw materials are grown and how the final garments are packaged and transported.
Put us to the test!
